Roofing work began in earnest today, after rainy weather put a stop to yesterday’s plans. Here are a few important things we learned this morning:
⇒ Today’s work on the first building will be limited to the front half of the roof. Because the back yards are still soft from Friday’s rain, they could not bring their heavy equipment to the back of the building today. On Monday they will work on the back of the building.
⇒ Workers want to protect potted plants (that are out front or on your deck) from falling debris. You can help by moving these out of the way.
⇒ To answer a question we’ve received a few times today: Yes, shingles on garage roofs and any other small areas of shingles on your house will be replaced. Debris from the tear-down of old shingles dictates that they work from the top of the building downward. So, the lower roofs will be done last.
⇒ So far, no plywood boards have required replacement.
